Men’s Satin Vests

March 14, 2008

When spring is in the air, so are Prom Season and Weddings. With the rebirth of life old traditions are reborn. Formalwear makes its comeback in the form of the Tuxedo. One of the newer ways to wear a tuxedo is to ditch the cummerbund and ditch the wing tip pleated tux shirt. The modern way to dress the tuxedo is to put on a satin dress shirt with the matching tie and hold on to your breath, The Satin Vest. The new way to dress for Proms and Weddings alike is to wear a color coordinated Men’s Satin Vest that matches what either your Prom Date is wearing colorwise or what the Bride’s Maids are wearing. Simple but elegant new concept for taking those perfect pictures. Men’s Satinwine-satin-vest.jpg Vests come in all kinds of colors to match all the ladies Prom Dresses and Bridal Dresses. Since most guys wear a Black tuxedo, it’s a piece of cake just to wear a satin vest that matches the ladies. If you are wearing a white Tuxedo or suit you can still do the same thing with your color coordination. What will they think of next?

Men’s Linen Blazers

March 13, 2008

You know when spring is around the corner as soon as the Easter candy gets displayed and we have to move the clocks foward an hour. Spring to me is always a great time of the year. It’s a rebirth of life. Spring is a time to reassess our wardrobes and start putting the sweaters and all the winter items away. Spring is a time to start thinking about Linen. Yes Linen, the warm weather fabric that is casual but looks so good. One of the best ways to wear Linen is none other than the Linen Blazer. Linen Blazers are one of my favorite ways to dress on the weekend. Just throw on your favorite jeans which hopefully are regular fit and a polo or button down shirt and top it off with a linen blazer. Linen Blazers are beige-linen-blazer.jpgso simple to work with. Put a couple colors in your closet and you’ll be covered. Linen Jackets are also wonderfully light in weight so you’ll forget you’re even wearing one. Linen Jackets are stylish and just look great. You will be seeing people wearing more and more linen sport jackets either plain or if you’re under 30 with decorative designs on them. Linen sport jackets to me look best with jeans. Just don’t mix linen with poly slacks or wool otherwise the Fashion Police may be visiting you.

Celebrity Suit Madness

March 4, 2008

It suddenly dawned on me that almost any celebrity who is seen wearing a suit on a regular basis all of a sudden comes out with his own suit label.  Ever since Steve Harvey broke that ground, all kinds of entertainers and athletes have gotten a suit with there name on it. Now I know how it really works. They don’t develop or manufacture there own suits. A suit manufacturer does that. What happens is that the Suit Manufacturer makes contact with the Celebrity’s Agent for an offer to make suits with their famous or somewhat famous name on it. If the Celebrity and his agent think it’s a good idea they agree. Usually it is. It’s another stream of income for them with absolutely no work involved. What happens is that the Suit Manufacturer comes up with all the new fabrics and styles of the suits. They show the celebrity and he agrees to it. The Manufacturer has the suits manufactured by a suit factory usually in China and goes about marketing the suits in various trade shows to sell them to all the suit stores or department stores interested in them. The Celebrity usually gets a 10% cut of the sales from the manufacturer. It’s a licensing agreement to use their name on the product. That’s probably one of best things about becoming famous is that you can suddenly put your name on almost anything because you are famous and make tons of money doing so.

The thing about Celebrity Suits is that they are usually more than double the price of a similar suit without the celebrity name. They are almost always made in the same factories in China where the regular brand name suits will be made. If fact, I have personally noticed the lengths which the manufacturer goes to in order to hide where it’s was really made. It may promenently  say that the fabric or design is from Italy or France but you will have to dig inside a pocket to find the actual label that says made in China. Nice, Huh.  You just paid over three hundred dollars for a chinese suit that should have cost you no more than $150- $199 tops.  All because some Celebrity you don’t personally know or knows you has his name on the suit. If the suit was made in Italy then it should be expensive due to labor costs and quality expertiese.

Many of the celebrities who have their own suit lines are not even in the spotlight anymore. Magic, retired. Steve Harvey, show cancelled. I don’t get. Even Jordan has been out of the game for ten years or more and is raking in more dough than ever with his sneakers and everything else. Pretty amazing. Oh, well. We can’t all be famous, right.
